Central Greene Education Association is holding a free tailgate party from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Friday at Waynesburg Central High School. The activities include face painting, caricatures, temporary tattoos, games, raffles and music. The tailgate is before the Raiders varsity football game against McGuffey at home at 7 p.m.

Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg will hold its annual Teddy Bear Picnic for children ages 2 to 6 years old from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a picnic on the library lawn with crafts and other activities, along with lunch supplied by the library. Children can bring their favorite Teddy Bear so he or she can make some new friends. Register at the library in the children’s department or call the library at 724-627-9776.

Jefferson United Methodist Church will hold its annual bonfire Saturday beginning 6 p.m. behind the church. Hot dogs, drinks and s’mores will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Country music will be featured at New Freeport fire hall from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Brad Crow and the Cutups will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Larry Santee and Friends will perform from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Admission is $4. The event is sponsored by the fire company’s ladies auxiliary.

A 9/11 Remembrance and First Responder Recognition service will be held during the 11:15 a.m. service Sunday at Rogersville United Methodist Church. There will also be a covered-dish meal immediately following the service. The public is invited to attend to show support for emergency responders who serve their communities.
