Pennsylvania woman killed when car veers off road, overturns

MARKLEYSBURG (AP) – A woman was killed in a crash in southwestern Pennsylvania after her car veered off the road and overturned.

State police tell the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 27-year-old Tamara Shumaker, of Confluence, was traveling north on Route 281 in Fayette County, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the car she was driving swerved off the right side of the roadway. The car struck a culvert, causing it to become airborne and then overturn.

Police say she died at the scene near the West Virginia/Maryland line.

The crash remains under investigation.
