WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg middle and high school students will have a place to hang out after home football games this year.

For the second year in a row, Greater Waynesburg Christian Outreach is hosting 5th Quarter at West Sides located at 595 W. High St.

“We wanted to do something that the kids in the area could be a part of,” said Ashley Beaman, executive director of Outreach.

After each of the Waynesburg Raiders’ Friday night home games this season, students in grades 6 to 12 can hang out, play pool or foosball and listen to music, from 8 to 11 p.m.

“After the football games, that’s a time when a lot of teens are getting into trouble, so this is a positive alternative to that,” Beaman said.

She said last year, about 30 to 40 students attended the event and most of them were in middle school.

Several local restaurants are sponsoring food for the parties as well, Beaman said. Pizza Hut will provide pizza this Friday night, Don Patron’s will have chips and salsa Sept. 23, Yum Yum Tasty Diner and Donuts will provide donuts and cinnamon rolls Oct. 14, and 5 Kidz Kandy will have ice cream Oct. 28.

Beaman said her organization supports the series and other youth programs through fundraisers, one of which is coming up Oct. 30.

First Presbyterian Church, 169 W. College St., Waynesburg, is hosting the noon to 2 p.m. Souper Sunday fundraiser, which is all you can eat soup and bread for $5 per person or $20 per family.

For more information about the after-parties, call 724-852-4206.
