Area bar cited for liquor violations
Demaske’s Tavern on Jefferson Road in Jefferson was cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for multiple violations.
Sgt. Steven Driscoll said the charges were filed Sept. 2 following a random, routine inspection of the bar.
The first violation resulted from the bar having a restaurant level liquor license, but not maintaining enough food and eatery for a minimum of 30 people, which is mandated by the state. The bar received two smoking violations for allowing people to smoke indoors, which is prohibited by the state, and for not having proper “no smoking” signage.
The bar was also cited for improper transportation of alcohol.
“The beer has to be delivered to the restaurant and they were picking it up themselves,” Driscoll said.
The fifth violation was because of the management not being certified in the state-mandated Responsible Alcohol Management Program or registered with the liquor control board.
