The following is a description of the classes:
CIZE presents a fun dance fitness program as dance moves are broken down step-by-step and built into a full dance routine. Meghan Phillips leads the class, which meets on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the upper level of Building No. 10.
Country Heat will introduce a high-energy, easy-to-follow, low-impact, country dance-inspired fitness program that fires up the fun with dance to reshape the body, melt off the weight, tone and tighten. Instructor, Ashley Donaldson, will lead the class Mondays at 5 p.m. in the upper level of Building No. 10 and Thursdays at 5 p.m. in Building #9.
Fat Burner Meet Resistance will use resistance bands to build strength and body control while losing body fat. Led by Calvin Blunt, Sr., the cardio program strengthens muscles, elevates the heart rate and burns fat at the same time. Classes are on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. in Building No. 8.
P90X led by instructor Chaley Knight brings a workout emphasizing both strength and cardio sets to mix-ups of music that drive the workout. Participants will push to their limits with powerful moves in this class on Sundays at 6:15 p.m. in the upper level of Building No.10 and Thursdays at 7:15 p.m. in Building No.9.
P90X/Insanity Mash-up, led by Donaldson, will use the drills of Insanity to bring up participants’ heart rates for 30 minutes of cardio followed by P90X training of upper, lower and core to burn fat in the last 30 minutes. Classes are on Tuesdays evenings at 5 p.m. in the upper level of Building No.10.
PiYo classes return with instructor Phillips on Sundays at 5 p.m. in the upper level of Building No. 10. PiYo combines the mind and body practices of Pilates and Yoga as well as the principles of stretch, strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement
Turbo Kick is a fast-paced cardio program that everyone can enjoy while receiving the full benefits of kickboxing. Classes led by Donaldson are held in the upper level of Building No.10 on Mondays at 6:15 p.m.
Youth conditioning led by Calvin Blunt gives explosive results by focusing on youth speed by making it “Better, Stronger and Faster.” Classes on Thursdays in Building No.8 are offered at 4 p.m. for children ages 5-11 and again at 5 p.m. for ages 12-16.
Zumba embraces all the fundamental principles of fitness with instructor Missy Brewer. Fun and music motivate the body to efficiently burn calories, tone all muscle groups, incorporates full range of motion and improves the cardiovascular system. Classes are held Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. in Building No. 9.
All exercise participants must sign a release waiver and should wear sweat-absorbing clothes and good support shoes. Water and towels are recommended. P90X, PiYo and “Fat Burner Meet Resistance” participants will need to provide their own mat, along with light weights for P90X.
Individual classes are $5 per person with the exception of youth conditioning which is $10.
The “Hopper Card” is back by popular demand for the 2016 fall exercise classes. The $50 card allows participants to attend any twelve classes, excluding youth conditioning, within the session for $10 in savings. Participants may purchase more than one card at the recreation office or any exercise class.
Classes may be canceled due to participation or inclement weather. Announcements will be made on WANB Radio. Due to the Columbus Day holiday, classes will not be held on Monday, Oct. 10 and are re-scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31.
Registration is required one day in advance of classes due to space availability. For more information or registration, call the Department of Recreation at 724-852-5323, or visit www.co.greene.pa.us.
