Possession charge: Hank C. Cassidy, 25, of Monongahela, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and a vehicle violation after borough police pulled him over Monday on Mount Taber Road, Long Branch. Police said Cassidy was operating a motorcycle carelessly. The vehicle was not registered, and police said Cassidy had marijuana in his possession.
Items stolen: A resident of 347 Route 519 reported to state police someone entered an unlocked window in the home and stole $400 in cash, jewelry and other items between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31.
Fleeing charge: David R. Grimes, 26, of 404 First St., Fredericktown, was placed in Washington County jail Wednesday on charges of fleeing and driving under the influence stemming from a May 19 incident. According to the complaint, East Bethlehem police attempted to stop Grimes’ vehicle about 10 p.m. for not having lights on when Grimes sped away and attempted to elude them. When he stopped on Fourth Avenue, police said he smelled of alcohol and several empty beer cans were visible. He was given a Breathalyzer test and was released to his parents. Grimes was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in jail on $35,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 21 before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Liquor stolen: An employee of Wine and Spirits, 980 Jefferson Ave., reported to Washington police a man took a $46 bottle of whiskey Tuesday without paying.
Additional charges: Anthony Christmas, 35, of 850 Broad St., who was placed in Washington County jail Wednesday by Washington police on a probation detainer after he allegedly assaulted his wife, faces additional charges for allegedly hitting a parked pizza delivery vehicle and fleeing April 20. According to the complaint, Christmas was traveling north on South College Street when he struck the vehicle and a railing before fleeing. He is charged with causing an accident involving damage, driving with a suspended license, careless and reckless driving and failure to give information or render aid.
Carnival workers jailed: Donald Archibald, 37, of Louisville, Ohio, and Marilyn Ellis, 28, of Caseyville, Ill., were placed in Washington County jail Wednesday after being pulled over for speeding by McDonald police. According to the complaint, Archibald, the driver, was traveling 20 mph over the posted speed limit on West Main Street. Police said Archibald and Ellis, who said they were traveling with a carnival, had small bags of marijuana. They were each charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in jail on $35,000 bonds. Preliminary hearings are scheduled Sept. 21 before District Judge Ethan Ward.
