After returning from the Labor Day holiday weekend, we had plenty of news happen this week. In case you might have missed anything we’ve reported on this week, we have a recap of the five most read stories from the Observer-Reporter.
Two people were found dead in separate incidents on Labor Day. A Waynesburg woman committed suicide by lying on Interstate 79 in Franklin Township, Greene County. Officials said Holly Ann Matusik, 46, was struck by several vehicles at about 1:50 a.m. Monday.
In Union Township, Ryan Rogal, 24, was found dead in the woods behind 6331 State Route 88 in Finleyville. Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said his body was found next to his dirt bike by two men. His death is being investigated as a drug overdose.

An East Bethlehem Township mother was charged with endangering the welfare of children after her 4-year-old son was found standing on the back deck of another home in the township in July. When police went to the Clarksville home of Amanda Nicole DeMoss, 26, they found deplorable conditions for a child, including a smell of animal feces and urine. She is scheduled for an Oct. 17 preliminary hearing.

A former Canonsburg woman was arrested late Monday by Cecil Township police after a resident reportedly found her taking a bath in a tub at his Farmcrest Drive home. Robin Theiss, 48, who police said is homeless, also was charged with burglarizing another home. She also allegedly took a pickup truck from an auto repair shop and reportedly tried to set fire to tires outside the business.
The resident of the Farmcrest home told police he woke up to the sound of running water. When he went to a first-floor bathroom, he tried unsuccessfully to open the door. He heard a woman say, “I’m in here.” He told police she wrapped herself in a white towel and ran from the house.

The Steelers on Monday released their first depth chart for the 2016 season and rookie Javon Hargrave was listed as the starter at nose tackle. However, according to teammate Daniel McCullers, Hargrave left practice early with a knee injury. It could be bad news for the Steelers, who already are facing the possibility of playing the regular-season opener Monday in Washington without defensive end Cameron Hewyward, who suffered a sprained ankle in a preseason game at New Orleans Aug. 26.
