Electronic recycling set for fairgrounds
WAYNESBURG – Greene County residents who want to dispose of electronic items, including old televisions, computers and monitors, can bring them from 2 to 5 p.m. today to Greene County Fairgrounds.
A recycling company, JVS Environmental, will be collecting items for free, including computers, laptops, printers, video cassette recorders, stereos, cameras, telephones, electronic cables, games, audio, video and testing equipment and monitors.
Items that will not be accepted include small kitchen appliances, speakers, regular light bulbs, alkaline batteries, smoke detector and media containing digital data such as VCR tapes, software and compact discs.
The collection coordinators ask residents to limit disposal of televisions to one per car. Most items are accepted for free though there is a $1 charge for each fluorescent bulb; and $15 charge for items with Freon.
This will be the third of four electronic events held this year sponsored by the county and state Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson. The fourth electronic collection is scheduled for Dec. 14.
