Four bricks of heroin seized from Monessen man, police say
MONESSEN – A Monessen man faces allegations he possessed more than four bricks of heroin while he led police cruisers early Tuesday on a slow-speed chase through the city until his vehicle broke down.
Monessen police said 224 stamp bags of the drug were discovered in a police cruiser near where Aaron Lee Davis, 48, was placed after the pursuit came to an end outside of his residence at 1023 Rostraver St., court records show.
Police attempted to pull over his vehicle after it cruised through a stop sign about 12:15 a.m. at Ninth Street and Knox Avenue. Davis continued driving on Ninth to Summit Avenue and Alberts Drive at speeds that did not exceed 25 mph, police stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.
An officer in his cruiser overtook Davis’ vehicle on Grand Boulevard, forcing him to come to a stop. Police then accused Davis of driving around that cruiser and cutting off a second patrol car, forcing it to come to a stop. The Chevrolet Silverado Davis was driving came within a foot of striking one of the police cruisers on Grand, the court record alleges.
Davis then turned onto Watkins Street and pulled over at his residence when his vehicle apparently became disabled from running dry of antifreeze, the record shows.
Police said $9 also was seized from the suspect’s vehicle.
He faces charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing from police, reckless endangerment, drug possession, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
District Judge Joseph Dalfonso sent Davis to Westmoreland County jail on $200,000 bond.
