No injuries were reported in an early morning house fire Saturday at 227 Vine St., Canonsburg, but several cats perished in the flames.

According to borough police, Lee Wilson, the only resident of the house, heard popping sounds from the living room and located the fire behind a TV. Wilson told police she tried to extinguish the flames with a blanket, which caught fire. After trying to save the cats, Wilson said she evacuated. She was treated by emergency responders and was not taken to the hospital. The extent of damage is not known, but reports indicated the house was heavily damaged. Assisting Canonsburg firefighters were departments from North Strabane, Houston, Chartiers and Muse.
