Long-term, single lane closures on Interstate 70 at the Belle Vernon/ Speers Bridge, which carries Interstate 70 across the Monongahela River between Washington and Westmoreland counties, are planned in the westbound lanes, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Previous restrictions on the eastbound lanes have been lifted and all lanes are currently open.

The westbound Interstate 70 travel lane closure will begin at 9 p.m.Sept. 26 and continue until Sept. 30, weather and progress permitting.

On Oct. 3, the westbound passing lane will be closed until Oct. 6.

Long delays are expected, similar to the ones created by the eastbound closures.
