Man arrested for child sex offenses while working as EMT in Washington County
A West Mifflin man was arrested Tuesday by Allegheny County police for multiple sex offenses involving children while working as a emergency medical technician for a Washington County ambulance service.
Andrew Demeri, 24, was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, child endangerment, corruption of minors and indecent exposure.
The investigation was turned over to Allegheny County police by McKeesport police because the incidents allegedly occurred in multiple jurisdictions including McKeesport, Pitcairn and Westmoreland County. It is not believed that any of the incidents occurred during the course of his employment. A news release did not indicate what ambulance service employs him.
Demeri was arraigned before Disrict Judge Thomas Brletic and placed in Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 28.
