An Eighty Four man was killed early Friday in a single-car crash on East National Pike (Route 40) in Scenery Hill, North Bethlehem Township.

Jacob A. Klinger, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene about 3:20 a.m., said Washington County Coroner Tim Warco. A passing motorist called 911 after discovering Klinger’s wrecked car about 2:30 a.m. near 1641 E. National Pike, just west of Valleyview Road. Warco said Klinger had been going east when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and hit a commercial sign. He was wearing a seat belt.

State police are investigating the crash. Firefighters from Cokeburg and Lone Pine assisted at the scene along with Bearcat EMS.

Klinger was the 16th person to die on Washington County roads this year.
