Police beat Sept. 24
Driver charged: Timothy Sullivan, 35, of Claysville, was charged Thursday by state police with careless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to drive at a safe speed and failure to update an address change. He is accused of crashing his vehicle into a fence on property owned by David Powell of 483 Highland Ridge Road, Buffalo, earlier this month and leaving. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Faces assault charge: Jesse Raymond Scheirer, 23, of Venetia, will be charged by California police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from a Sept. 17 domestic altercation at 438 Third St. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
PFA violation alleged: Samuel A. Carpenter Jr., 30, of 795 Addison St., Washington, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Mark for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order after he allegedly struck the mother of his children during a June 9 confrontation at her home on Elkie Drive in Canton. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Unsworn falsification charge: Christopher Dodd, 29, of 1520 Jefferson Ave., Canton, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Mark on a charge of unsworn falsification filed by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy. Dodd is accused of lying to deputies when asked if he had any guns Sept. 14. He reportedly hid a shotgun in a neighbor’s vehicle. He also was charged with violating a protection-from-abuse order. Dodd was released from Washington County jail after posting $20,000 bond.
Theft charge: Zachary Mingo, 28, of 426 Houston St., Washington, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Mark on a theft charge filed by Chartiers police. He is accused of stealing a cellphone earlier this month from 1375 Paxton Farm Road. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Assault arrest: Marc Corio of 1017 Maple Ave., West Alexander, was arrested Thursday afternoon by Donegal police after he allegedly punched James Carr in the face during a confrontation in a parking lot across from their home. Corio was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Two injured: Two people were injured Thursday night when a pickup truck and a van from Courtyard Marriott, 1800 Tanger Boulevard, collided on Racetrack Road at Tanger Boulevard, North Strabane police said. Police said the truck was driven by Jason R. Hefner, 44, of 223 Dodd Drive, South Strabane Township, while the van was driven by Tammy Koteles, 40, of 464 Moniger Road, Chartiers Township. Hefner was treated at the scene. Koteles was taken to Canonsburg Hospital.
Driver charged: Jason Williams, 30, of McClellandtown, will be charged by state police with careless driving, driving with a suspended license, not having insurance and having expired registration after a three-vehicle crash about 6:35 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 79 north of the Racetrack Road exit in North Strabane. Police said he struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Terry Loughman, 31, of West Alexander, pushing that vehicle into a vehicle driven by John Nusser Jr., 50, of Belle Vernon.
Theft charge: Mariela Pizarro-Abalos, 51, of 435 Fayette St., Washington, was charged Monday with theft by North Strabane police. She is accused of stealing money and a T-shirt from a vendor at a flea market at 261 Alexander Ave. on Sept. 10. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Pornography charge: Scott Deel, 48, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, was charged Monday by North Strabane police with unlawful contact with a minor and possession of child pornography. He is accused of making inappropriate contact by computer with someone he believed was a teenage girl. He actually was contacting a township officer who is a member of Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Assault charge: Keith A. Thomas, 31, of Uniontown, was charged Monday by North Strabane police with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face while the two were at DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, 340 Racetrack Road, Sunday. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Threats arrest: Adam Miles, 29, of 613 Gladden Road, Canonsburg, was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Jay Weller on a charge of terroristic threats. He is accused of sending his estranged girlfriend threatening messages via Snapchat to her home on Carl Avenue. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. Police charged him earlier this month with harassment for allegedly sending the woman numerous text and Facebook messages.
Theft, paraphernalia charges: Nicholas Retos, 32, of 409 N. Wade Ave., East Washington, was charged Tuesday by South Strabane police with retail theft and possession of paraphernalia. He is accused of stealing an item from Home Depot, 355 Murtland Ave., Sept. 15. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Unsworn falsification charge: Heather M. McCracken, 39, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by state police with unsworn falsification and illegal sale or transfer of firearms for allegedly lying on an application to purchase a firearm in August 2015 at Ace Sporting Goods, Washington Road, South Strabane. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Warrant arrests: Shiann Huseman, 25, of 445 Lusk Road, Bentleyville, and Stephanie Thompson, 36, of 642 Daniels Run Road, Scenery Hill, were placed in Washington County jail on probation violations. Washington police received a complaint two women were using drugs Thursday at McDonald’s, 999 Jefferson Ave. Huseman and Thompson were found in a car in the lot. Police said Huseman refused repeated orders to get off her cellphone and would not give a probation officer her purse. Police said they found two stamp bags and paraphernalia in her purse. Thompson also had paraphernalia, police said. Additional charges are pending against the pair.
Firearm charge: Shane Dodd, 28, of 444 Hoodridge Drive, Pittsburgh, was charged by the Washington County sheriff’s office with person not to possess firearms. According to the complaint, Sept. 14, deputies served Dodd’s brother, Christopher Dodd, with a protection from abuse order at his residence at 1520 Jefferson Ave., Washington. They found Christopher Dodd was in possession of a shotgun that was supposed to be in Shane Dodd’s possession from a previous PFA order in which Shane Dodd obtained a safekeeping permit from the sheriff’s office. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
