Lions Club names students of the month for September
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Colin McCracken and Makayla Rogers were selected by the high school faculty as the Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for September.
McCracken, a son of Jennifer and Chad McCracken of Waynesburg, maintains a 4.0 grade point average.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, yearbook staff and Lettermen’s Club and participates in football, wrestling and baseball.
He received a 4.0 GPA award. He was named to the all-conference football team as a sophomore; and was a first-team, all-conference linebacker as a junior. He achieved 100 career wins in wrestling and was a seventh place state medalist in wrestling.
McCracken is a volunteer little league wrestling tournament volunteer. He plans to attend college and major in engineering.
Rogers, a daughter of Loretta and Carl Rogers III, maintains a 3.75 grade point average.
She is editor of both the school newspaper and the yearbook, secretary of the Leo Club and a member of Upward Bound, SADD, National Honor Society, French Club, Alpha Club, art club, prom committee, debate team, student council and the Green Team.
Rogers received highest honors in English and civics, honors in American History and world cultures and highest honors in the Upward Bound summer program. She also participated in creative writing and Future Business Leaders of America and is now a member of the chess club.
Rogers has volunteered through Upward Bound with American Red Cross and Greene County Humane Society.
She plans to attend Kent State University and major in education, specializing in working with students with hearing impairments.
