A cat found to have been shot with an arrow Tuesday morning is in the care of an area veterinarian.

According to Kym Secreet, an animal control officer, a stray cat was found behind a home on California Drive in California Borough with an arrow through its abdomen.

“It’s pretty obvious it was intentional,” Secreet said.

The animal didn’t appear to be in pain, Secreet said, probably because it was in shock. A man exiting his house called 911 after finding the cat.

Secreet’s daughter, Gina Secreet, who is also an animal control officer, wrapped the feline in a blanket and transported it to University Veterinary Specialists in Peters Township, where it underwent surgery.

Secreet said police are investigating the incident.

Borough police were not immediately available to comment.

The cat will be placed with Washington Area Humane Society after recovering.
