TOPS 1393 (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Thursday night at Waynesburg First Methodist Church on Richhill Street. Weigh-in is between 6 and 7 p.m., when the meeting begins. For more information, call 724-852-6294.
The Greene County Library System will provide training sessions on the Brainfuse database that offers a variety of learning resources for students, including live-tutoring and help preparing for standardized tests. Brainfuse can be used at any public library in Greene County or anywhere with internet access, and tutoring is available daily from 2 to 11 p.m., excluding certain holidays. All tutors are based in the United States and went through the clearance process. The first training session will be held at Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg Oct. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The second session will be held at Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels Oct. 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Space is limited. The Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club will meet Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at Carmichaels Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates will present a program on flag etiquette at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend and bring their family members and guests to this program. New members are welcome.
Washington Street United Methodist Church in Waynesburg is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 with lunch for sale from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They will be serving soups, sandwiches and desserts and take-out is available by calling 724-627-3240.
Wayne Township will hold door-to-door trick or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Participants are asked to turn on a porch light.
