Officer who allegedly overdosed while on duty placed on leave

JOHSNTOWN (AP) – A Johnstown police officer has been placed on administrative leave after he allegedly overdosed and was found unconscious while on duty in the Public Safety Building.

City solicitor Elizabeth Benjamin confirmed the action to the Tribune Democrat. State police are investigating.

The incident occurred Sept. 18 and a drug used to reverse an opiod overdose was reportedly used.

Cambria District Attorney Kelly Callihan says she’s not releasing the officer’s name until the investigation is finished.
