WAYNESBURG – Two inmates at Greene County jail were charged Friday with assaulting a third inmate while he was in the shower.

Logan John Lynn Miller, 30, of Waynesburg, and Ryan Christopher O’Hara, 26, of Somerset, were charged with simple assault and harassment after they allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old inmate at the jail Jan. 11, according to the criminal complaint. State police said Miller and O’Hara believed the inmate smuggled tobacco into the jail by placing it in a body cavity. Miller and O’Hara allegedly slammed the inmate to the floor of the shower, held him down and searched for the tobacco with a toothbrush, the complaint said.

Police said when they didn’t find the tobacco, the two men kicked the inmate in the ribs, stomach and back, causing him to require medical attention.

Police said surveillance video in the prison showed the two men following the inmate into the shower and, a few minutes later, the inmate being thrown from the shower into a table.
