One person was hurt in the six-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 north in Cecil Township that caused major traffic backups during rush hour Monday.

State police said six cars were traveling north in close proximity at 4:30 p.m. when traffic in front of them stopped, and a chain-reaction crash occurred. Police identified five of those involved as Bradley Fogle, Ryan Johnson, Jay Reed, Justin Chismar and Aaron Descamp. One person was taken by ambulance to St. Clair Hospital, but the police report did not indicate which one.

The crash closed the northbound lanes for some time, and a vehicle fire at the same time several miles away in the southbound lanes, also snarled traffic in that direction.
