Burglary arrest: Sean Michael Hobberchalk, 41, of Washington, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Jay Welller on a warrant obtained by state police on charges of burglary, theft and criminal trespass. He is accused of breaking into his former residence at 120 Karen Drive, Buffalo, and stealing a furnace. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $7,500 bond.

Resisting, fleeing charges: Ronald Anthony Mavilla, 23, of 3674 Marion Ave., Finleyville, was arrested Monday afternoon by Monongahela police on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and reckless driving after police were called to his home for a domestic dispute. Police tried to stop Mavilla’s vehicle as he reportedly drove on several streets at a high rate of speed. Mavilla returned home and allegedly struggled with police as they tried to take him into custody. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.

Fire reported: McDonald police said Midway firefighters were called to a home at 109 Jefferson St., early Monday for a report of a fire. A woman who was house-sitting awoke to the smell of something burning inside the home. The heater and light for the fish tank had shorted out. Police said the fish were not harmed.

Faces assault charges: Edward T. Sawicky, 29, of 134 Hamilton St., North Franklin, will be charged by North Franklin police with aggravated assault, strangulation, indecent assault, simple assault, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly strangled a 24-year-old woman, pushed her to the floor and inappropriately touched her during an incident Sunday. He was placed in Washington County Jail on a probation detainer and will be arraigned at a later date before District Judge Robert Redlinger.

One injured: Karyn Ward, 38, of Pittsburgh, was injured Monday morning in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 519 at a ramp from Route 19, North Strabane police said. She was stopped behind a vehicle driven by Joann Kosarik, 60, of Hickory, who was waiting to make a left turn into the park and ride lot. Ward’s vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Thomas Friend, 77, of Ambridge and pushed into Kosarik’s vehicle. Ward was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.

Assault arrest: Monica Hoberek, 36, of 325 Jefferson Ave., Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon by Washington police on a charge of aggravated assault after she allegedly hit a 50-year-old Washington man in the back of the head with a rock while the two were at the intersection of Oakland and Meadow avenues. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. She was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County Jail on $2,500 bond.

Warrant arrest: Duane Mann, 60, who Washington police said is homeless, was taken into custody on a bench warrant Monday after police received a report of two men fighting. He also will be charged with disorderly conduct. Mann was placed in Washington County Jail on the warrant.

Caps stolen: Dee Spencer, 256 Shirls Ave., told Washington police Monday that the center caps were stolen from all four wheels on her vehicle.
