WAYNESBURG – A Crucible man was found guilty by a Greene County jury last week of possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine stemming from his arrest at a Franklin Township motel last February.

Amnie Eugene Lawver, 55, of 436 Fifth Ave., was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lawver was not present at the trial, which according to the court is not required. However, following his conviction, Judge Lou Dayich revoked his bond and ordered a bench warrant be issued for his arrest.

Lawver was arrested by state police Feb. 24, 2016, outside the Econo Lodge Motel on Miller Lane. According to court documents, state police received a call from Lawver’s parole officer who indicated he had been informed Lawver was selling crack cocaine and staying at the motel.

Agents said they went to the motel and when Lawver arrived they noticed bulges in his front pockets. The agents said they recovered from his pockets about 10 grams of crack cocaine, $2,500 in cash and hypodermic needles.

After obtaining a search warrant, police said they searched his room and found additional crack cocaine as well as Suboxone, pills, a scale, pipes and items, including baking powder and an electric stove top, that could be used for manufacturing crack cocaine.

Dayich ordered a presentence investigation be completed after Lawver is arrested and before he is sentenced by the court.

In another court matter, Brian Keith Mayle, 41, of 200 Garards Fort Road, Garards Fort, was found not guilty by a jury Thursday of two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault. Mayle was accused of punching his wife Sept. 25 at 290 Garards Fort Road and of grabbing his 16-year-old daughter by the neck.
