Polytechnic career event planned at Canon-Mac
The Challenge Program wil present its inaugural Polytechnic Career Awareness Event in Washington County. This informational event is to introduce parents, educators, and students to the in-demand, gold-collar careers available in our region today and in the future.
A keynote speaker, a panel, regional employers and resources are scheduled for the event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Canon-McMillan High School. The entire Washington County community is welcome to attend.
“Polytechnic” is an umbrella term that means many technologies,” explained Maria Campieri, manager of program development for The Challenge Program. “It encompasses a wide range of industries from manufacturing, skilled trades, health care and energy, all with family-sustaining wages.”
The format for the event will be divided into two sessions. The first session will include a brief presentation to discuss the changing and current workforce needs in our communities and the availability of good family-sustaining careers. Directly following will be a question-and-answer session with a Polytechnic Success Story Panel.
