Donora hires new borough admin
DONORA – A Carroll Township man was hired Thursday as Donora Borough administrator.
Donora Council in a 6-1 vote at a special meeting hired John Bedner at a salary of $45,000 a year without health benefits. Council President Dennis Gutierreez cast the no vote on the motion to hire Bedner.
“He seemed to be in command,” Donora Councilman John Conger said.
Conger said Bedner was among seven candidates who were interviewed for the position.
“I believe he’s retired,” Conger said.
Bedner begins working Monday and will be on probation for 90 days.
“He has a strong background in finance. We’re going to need this with our tight finances,” Conger said.
“He will direct our workforce other than the police department.”
Bedner replaces Dennis Fisher, who resigned in January.
He did not attend Thursday’s meeting and could not be reached for comment.
