A Monessen man was sentenced Tuesday in Washington County Court to between 8 and 20 years in prison for possession of stolen firearms.

Victor Renell Brown was sentenced by Judge Michael Lucas after he was found guilty of two felony counts of possession of a firearm prohibited and two felony counts of receiving stolen property.

Brown also was found guilty of one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of paraphernalia.

Following incarceration of up to 20 years in a state prison, Brown will serve a four-year probationary period.

In December 2015, police were called to the location where Brown had been staying and found several empty sandwich baggies, a scale with white residue in Brown’s bedroom and a stolen revolver and pistol in the closet.

Brown was in Washington County jail since his Dec. 8 arrest.
