Police Beat April 8
Drug, disorderly charges: Donte Rashad Valentino, 27, of California, was charged Wednesday by California police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, as well as a traffic violation, stemming from a traffic stop Sunday on Zulu Street.
Threats arrest: Darren W. Jones, 37, of 2151 The Circle, Canton, was arrested Thursday night by state police on charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife and family during a confrontation at their home. Police said he also claimed he was going to commit “suicide by cop.” Police were told there was a gun inside the house. Jones was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
PFA violation alleged: Gary Mariani, 46, of 10 Whitetail Drive, was arrested Thursday by Chartiers police for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his wife. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
False identification charge: Jaymes Wesley Hillen, 29, of 1339 Lexington Drive, Lawrence, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Jay Weller on a charge of false identification to police after he allegedly gave South Strabane police an incorrect name during a March 25 incident in the 1400 block of North Main Street. Weller set bond at $5,000 on Hillen, who had been in Washington County jail on a parole detainer.
Card stolen: Joan McLaughlin of Washington told South Strabane police that her credit card was stolen from a room at the Hampton Inn, Murtland Avenue, and was used at several locations. Police have a suspect.
Charged in fight: Zachary Bitz, 21, of 112 Cynthia Drive, Canonsburg, and Cody Armstrong, 23, of 1230 Meadowbrook Drive, Canonsburg, were charged with disorderly conduct stemming from a fight early Friday at President’s Pub, Washington police said. Both refused treatment.
Harassment charge: John Johnson, 46, of 485 Ewing St., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with harassment after allegedly hitting Aaron Dates, 45, of 121 Poplar St., during an incident Thursday at Dates’ home.
Car damaged: Richard Kerns of 395 Donnan Ave. told Washington police Thursday it appears the sunroof of his car was hit with a bullet.
Tires slashed: Ronald Avance of 530 ½ W. Chestnut St. told Washington police Thursday that two tires were slashed on his vehicle.
Checks stolen: Five checks were reported stolen Thursday from Community Abstract and Closing Service, 665 W. Chestnut St., Washington police said. Three of the checks were cashed for $6,139.75. The theft was discovered after a bank called the business when an attempt was made to cash a check.
