CLAIRTON (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania say a woman and two children were taken to hospitals after they were rescued from a duplex fire near Pittsburgh.

Officials in Allegheny County said the blaze in Clairton was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

WPXI-TV reported that one side was occupied by a woman, her adult children and six grandchildren, all of whom were able to escape, but they reported hearing neighbors screaming for help.

Fire crews reported three people trapped on the second floor of the dwelling and used a ladder to rescue them. They were taken by ambulance to hospitals, and officials said their conditions weren’t immediately available.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
