Simple assault: Freddy Bryant Jr., 30, of 418 E. Fourth Ave., Crucible, was charged by Cumberland Township police with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly beating up his girlfriend, Chandra Berry, Monday night at their residence. Police said Bryant allegedly became aggressive with Berry after they argued over her possibly staying in Texas this summer. Berry told police that Bryant punched her in the face and threw her on the ground, injuring her forehead and tailbone, before leaving the scene. Police said Berry’s shirt was also ripped during the altercation. Berry was treated at an area hospital.

Disorderly conduct: Ryan Matthew Knight, 24, of 136 Fairview Ave., Jefferson, was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief following a March 30 crash on Route 88 and Mapletown Road near Greensboro. Cumberland Township police were assisting state police with the crash when Knight allegedly became combative with EMS workers, according to court documents. He allegedly was grabbing and swinging his arms at them and broke one of their necklaces. Police said they used a Taser in order to handcuff him. Knight allegedly told police he started fighting because he was afraid the EMS workers would “throw him on the ground,” the complaint said. “Knight kept making comments about EMS thinking they could do whatever they wanted because they had a badge,” police said in the complaint. “I informed Knight that the EMS workers were not the police and were only there to help and that he cannot swing at or attack them.” Knight was treated at Uniontown Hospital.
