PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pittsburgh man is jailed on gun and drug charges after police say he exchanged gunfire with two men and caused a baby in his vehicle to be injured by flying glass.

Twenty-one-year-old Gary Gates was arrested shortly after police responded to the shooting about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday and found him driving a speeding car whose driver-side rear window was shattered.

Police say Gates pulled over voluntarily, and they found a gun, $2,200 in cash and marijuana in the car, including seven plastic bags of pot inside a Lucky Charms cereal box.

Police say Gates was supposed to meet two men but, instead, they exchanged gunfire and he drove away.

The baby, whose relationship to Gates isn’t being disclosed, was treated for a facial cut and released to family.

Gates doesn’t have an attorney.
