MEYERSDALE (AP) – A state police fire marshal has asked criminal investigators to help determine what caused a Pennsylvania house fire that killed three people and several pets.

The Somerset County coroner says 55-year-old homeowner Lugene Albright, her 31-year-old son Jimmy Christner and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Sara Bottorff from smoke inhalation from the fire reported about 2:30 a.m. Monday in Summit Township. That’s near Meyersdale, about 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Authorities say almost a dozen dogs and at least one cat also lived in the home and perished.

It wasn’t immediately clear where the fire started or why a criminal investigations unit has joined the probe.
