Survey work scheduled for I-70 interchange
As preliminary information is gathered for a project to reconstruct the Interstate 70 interchange at Route 51 in Rostraver Township, the state Department of Transportation is advising motorists workers will be in the area in the coming weeks.
Starting Monday, crews will be visible in and around the the interchange doing field work to locate existing underground utilities. The work will occur at the following locations: Route 51 between Ridge Road and Harper Drive, Route 981 at the Route 51 intersection, Finley Road at Route 51, Ridge Road at the Route 51 and I-70 east and west of Route 51 interchange. Lane restrictions are not anticipated.
Starting May 14 and continuing through May 31, crews will be doing field survey work along Interstate 70 around the Route 51 interchange area that will require restricting traffic to one lane in each direction on I-70 between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Crews will be doing field survey work along Interstate 70 in the same area before and after those dates but lane restrictions are not anticipated.
Tentatively, the future project will include reconstruction of the Interstate 70/Route 51 tnterchange and Interstate 70 reconstruction between the Smithton high level bridge to approximately a mile west of the interchange with Route 51.
