Gas station near Waynesburg robbed at gunpoint
State police are investigating two robbery incidents within a 24-hour period that happened just a few blocks from each other in Morrisville.
One was an armed robbery Tuesday night at the Marathon gas station at 1550 E. High St. in which a man with a bandana covering his face showed a gun to the clerk and demanded money shortly before 10 p.m.
The clerk gave him money from the register and the suspect ran from the store headed east, police said. Police described him as a white man wearing a black zipped, hooded sweatshirt with bright yellow stitching, black pants and blue shoes.
That robbery followed an attempted robbery just before midnight Monday at the 7-Eleven convenience store a short distance away at 1265 E. High St. State police said a white man about 6 feet tall with a thin build, wearing a black hooded jacket, entered the store also with a bandana over his face. He showed the clerk a knife and attempted to rob the store, but the clerk was able to lock himself in the office. The suspect got no money and left on foot.
Investigators said the incidents could be related because of the similar description of the individual at each scene, the proximity of the stores and the times that they occurred.
