MONONGAHELA TOWNSHIP – State police are looking for a man who robbed a Monongahela Township bar at gunpoint Thursday night, the third robbery this week in Greene County.

Police said the man entered Top Hat Bar, 2939 E. Roy Furman Highway, about 10:30 p.m., displayed a black semi-automatic handgun to the staff and demanded the cash in the register. Police said the man fled with $700 in cash.

This incident comes just days after two robberies in Franklin Township. Just before midnight Monday, a man entered the 7-Eleven convenience store at 1265 E. High St., showed the clerk a knife and attempted to rob the store. The clerk was able to lock himself in the office, and the suspect left without money.

Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, a man entered the Marathon gas station at 1550 E. High St., showed a gun to the clerk and demanded money, which the clerk gave him.

While police would not confirm if all three incidents are linked, they said the description of the suspect at each scene was similar. Witnesses at each location described him as a thin, 6-foot-tall white man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black bandana covering his face.

Police said they are reviewing video surveillance regarding the robberies and that anyone with information should call Trooper Lucas Borkowski at 724-627-6151.
