A Washington man told city police his car was hit by three bullets as he drove in the 300 block of Second Street Thursday night.

Donald Knupp Jr., 29, told police he was driving west approaching Donnan when he heard at least 10 shots being fired. He initially determined shots hit his 1989 Chevrolet Caprice in the driver’s door and the top of a fender on the driver’s side of the vehicle. He later discovered a third shot hit the trim above the driver’s window.

Knupp drove to a business on Jefferson Avenue, where he called police. Knupp told police he did not see anyone, but another person reported seeing two men running from the area. Police searched the area but did not locate anyone. Shell casings were found in the area of the shooting.

Knupp took his car to the city police station Friday for processing by a detective.
