Man sentenced for role in $2.7 million drug ring
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to a maximum of 44 years in prison for his role in what officials call a $2.7 million multi-county drug ring.
The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat reports 44-year-old Curtis “Dirty” Harper was sentenced Monday after accepting a plea deal.
Officials say Harper and others planned to distribute heroin between February 2015 and March 2016 in counties such as Cambria, Somerset and Allegheny.
Harper was part of a drug sweep led by then-state Attorney General Kathleen Kane that led to 32 people being charged with dealing heroin.
Cambria County Public Defender John Lovette III says Harper could have faced life in prison had he not accepted the plea deal.
