Assault charge: Chad Scott Smith, 45, of Washington County, is in county jail on charges of strangulation, aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment following an incident at 45 Linnwood Drive around 1 a.m. Sunday. He is being held on straight bond. State police, who did not give a hometown for the accused or victim, reported Smith and a woman, 43, of Washington County, got into an argument. She got a revolver from her daughter’s room and told the accused to leave. He wrested the gun from her, held her on a bed by the throat and put the gun inside her mouth and threatened to kill her.
