South Strabane police charge several with theft

South Strabane Township police filed theft-related charges last week against several people accused of stealing from businesses in the township.

Cheyenne Hinnebusch, 20, of 106 Hixon Road, Eighty Four, was charged with theft for allegedly stealing $300 from Walmart, Trinity Point, while working at the store. Police said the money was stolen over several days in June.

William Ruby, 32, of Latrobe, and Anthony Burkhart, 29, of Wheeling, W.Va., were charged with theft by deception for allegedly stealing items from Walmart, Trinity Point, and returning them for gift cards. Ruby is accused of returning items June 10 and Burkhart July 23.

Jonathan G. Snyder, 32, and Shauna Lynn Varner, 30, both of 191 Cook Ave., Waynesburg, were charged in connection with a July 15 theft of three cellphones and a global-positioning system from Walmart.

Varner is charged with retail theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief for allegedly damaging boxes containing the items. Snyder is charged with retail theft, conspiracy and driving with a suspended license.

Several people are charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing items from Kohl’s, Strabane Square. James Mosley, 21, of Pittsburgh, facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing nine items valued at $392 on May 3. Also charged with retail theft are Isaac J. Layfield, 31, of Fairmont, W.Va., for allegedly stealing items valued at $249 on May 31; William Baldwin, 34, of 255 Horton Road, Brownsville, for allegedly stealing $379 in merchandise June 10; and Marlene Fabich, 77, of 1520 Jefferson Ave., Washington, for allegedly stealing a bottle of perfume July 25.

Patrick Gorman Jr., 20, of Ruffsdale, is charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $163 from Target, Strabane Square, June 6. Sean Knox, 42, of 440 Olive Ave., Charleroi, is charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $214 from Home Depot, 255 Murtland Ave., May 26.

The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
