PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say a school bus carrying members of a high school band heading to a Pittsburgh-area amusement park was rear-ended by a van carrying the band’s equipment. Nine students and the bus driver were taken to hospitals for minor injuries.

Public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler says the crash happened Monday morning in Pittsburgh as the students were heading to perform at Kennywood Park.

TV news footage of the crash shows a New Brighton Area School District van with its front-end crushed and air bag seemingly deployed. It was towing a trailer emblazoned with a lion mascot and the words “Marching Lion Pride.”

Students were being treated by EMS workers on the roadside and some were seen in neck braces being loaded into ambulances.
