A West Mifflin police officer is reportedly suspended while he faces charges stemming from an incident in which police said he attacked two women during a fracas outside KeyBank Pavilion earlier this month.

David D. McCue, 46, of Somerset Township, is charged with simple assault and harassment in connection with an altercation about 9 p.m. Aug. 6, when a Hanover Township police officer said he saw McCue grab a woman by the throat and pick her up before he “threw her to the ground.”

Hanover police filed the charges in District Judge Gary Havelka’s office Tuesday.

Several media outlets reported McCue’s suspension on Wednesday. West Mifflin solicitor Phil DiLucente couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The Hanover officer who filed the charges said in court papers he was outside the venue’s west gate, working at the Brantley Gilbert concert, when he saw McCue yelling at the woman before he grabbed her.

The arresting officer and a colleague ran toward the fracas and took McCue into custody with the help of three other men who identified themselves as off-duty police officers, according to an affidavit of probable cause supporting the charges.

Hanover police said they interviewed several witnesses who told them McCue punched the first alleged victim and another woman.

“They also stated that McCue threw the two to the ground several times,” according to the affidavit.

The documents don’t describe the nature of their injuries, or if they knew McCue.

Court records don’t list an attorney for the suspended officer.

McCue has moonlighted as an actor since 2007, according to his page on the Internet Movie Database, often portraying a member of law enforcement. The website lists appearances that include roles in the TV series “Outsiders” and “Those who Kill” and the films “Love and Other Drugs” and “Foxcatcher.”
