Greene County electronic recycling collection set for Aug. 30
An electronic recycling collection will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Greene County Fairgrounds, sponsored by the Greene County commissioners and state Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson.
Items that will be accepted free include computers, laptop computers, monitors, printers, components, videocassette recorders, cameras, telephones, electronic cables, games, audio, video and testing equipment and calculators.
There will be a $1 charge for each fluorescent bulb, and a $15 charge for each item with Freon.
Televisions will be accepted for free, though residents are asked to limit disposal of televisions to one per car for each collection event. Disassembled cathode-ray televisions will not be accepted.
Other items that will not be accepted include sweepers, hair dryers, small kitchen appliances, speakers, regular light bulbs, alkaline batteries, smoke detectors, manuals, Styrofoam and VCR tapes, software and compact discs.
One additional recycling event will be held by the county at the fairgrounds this year. It is scheduled for Oct. 18.
