Mt. Morris men accused of driving on hunter access property
Two Mt. Morris men are facing multiple charges after an officer with the state Game Commission arrested them in June for driving a truck on hunter access property on Walnut Hill Road in Dunkard Township.
The wildlife conservation officer said David Paul Garber, 33, and Joel Ray Barlow, 25, both of 1119 Big Shannon Run Road, were driving in an area closed to motor vehicles the morning of June 16.
The officer said the men allegedly stole the license plate on the truck from Jack’s Recycling near Mt. Morris and were illegally burning copper and rubber on the hunter access property. The officer said Garber then gave a false statement about where he obtained the copper.
Also, the men had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the truck, according to the criminal complaint.
Both men were charged with theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and four summary offenses relating to littering and driving on the property. Garber also was charged with receiving stolen property and giving a false statement to an officer.
Barlow, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant, also faces a second count of theft.
The men are scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 before District Judge Lee Watson.
