Independence man charged in threats against wife, friends
An Independence Township man was arrested early Saturday by state police on charges including terroristic threats after he allegedly pointed a gun at three people including his wife inside a barn on their property.
David Roy Campbell, 36, of 40 Airstrip Road, Avella, is charged with three counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault and one count of harassment.
Police were called about 4:15 a.m. by Campbell’s wife, Amber Campbell, who told troopers her husband had pointed a handgun at her and two friends several hours earlier. She told police her husband entered the barn holding the pistol.
Amber Campbell told police her husband was angry. She said he pointed the gun and threatened to shoot her and her friends. She told troopers she and her husband began to argue and he tackled her. The two of them wrestled for a few minutes before he fled in his pickup truck. The two friends also told troopers Campbell pointed the gun before the couple got into the physical altercation.
When police talked with David Campbell, he reportedly told them he threatened to shoot them.
Campbell was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. He faces a Sept. 11 preliminary hearing before District Judge Ethan Ward.
