A Charleroi woman was arrested Monday afternoon by Charleroi Regional police on charges including endangering the welfare of children and possession of crack after she allegedly used the drug in the presence of her two teenage children.

Brenda L. Conrad-Roberts, 51, of 105 ½ Lookout Ave., also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police were called about 4 p.m. to her home by her 18-year-old daughter, who reported her mother was using drugs in the basement. Police said they found Conrad-Roberts with blood on her hands, apparently from a fresh injection point. She reportedly admitted to shooting up in the basement.

Police said two syringes and three rocks of suspected crack were found. Officers said they also learned her two 17-year-old children were in the home at the time. A Washington County Children and Youth Services caseworker said they could be placed in the care of their older sister.

When Conrad-Roberts was processed at the station, she was told to empty her pants pockets police said. She pulled out a small corner of a plastic bag containing suspected crack.

Conrad-Roberts was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond, She is scheduled for a Sept. 7 preliminary hearing before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
