WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Elections Board voted Thursday to certify the Nov. 7 municipal election results.

The board, formed by the three county commissioners, completed the certification after a recount was conducted Nov. 22 on a court challenge to results for the race for Center Township supervisor.

The recount, which included a test of the three electronic voting machines used in the precinct, confirmed initial results for the race in which incumbent Republican Seann P. McCollum was defeated by Democratic challenger Harry D. Gillispie in a 202 to 190 vote.

The elections office still must decide the winners in minor races in which there were tie votes. The casting of lots to decide the tie votes will be conducted in the elections office at noon Monday.

The Greene County Court also announced that those who won office in the Nov. 7 election will be sworn in during a ceremony at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 in the courthouse.
