Washington man accused of attempted robbery at a motel

State police accused a Washington man of attempting to rob two guests Saturday at a motel in Canton Township before stealing a purse from a room.
Police placed the suspect, Robert L. Austin, 20, in Washington County jail on a parole violation and planned to charge him with attempted robbery, online records show.
Austin is accused of pretending to have a gun while attempting to rob two men about 6:50 a.m. at Red Roof Inn, 1399 W. Chestnut St., police said.
Police said charges against Austin were pending before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
