Arby’s restaurant now under construction off Route 21 in Franklin Township
WAYNESBURG – Greene County will soon “have the meats” as construction recently got underway on an Arby’s restaurant at Route 21 and Progress Drive in Franklin Township.
The fast-food restaurant is being constructed on a 1.43 acre lot just west of the Washington Health System Family Medicine building.
Arby’s, which uses the motto “We have the meats,” serves a variety of sandwiches, salads, fries and desserts. It is best known for its roast beef sandwiches, although it has expanded its menu to include a number of other offerings.
The project, which is being developed by Becker Management Corp. of Huntington, W.Va., first received plan approval from Franklin Township in 2014, township code enforcement officer Steve Coss said.
The company later revised its plan to feature a smaller building, he said. A building permit was issued for the final design Nov. 14 when construction began, he said.
Plans for the project call for the construction of a 2,100 square-foot building. The project will include a drive-through lane and parking lot containing 33 spaces.
Access to the restaurant will be from Route 21 for westbound vehicles only and from Pump Station Road, which intersects with Progress Drive and also accesses the medical center building.
A spokesman for Becker could not be reached Monday to comment on when the restaurant might open.
