Wolf announces parks money for Washington, Greene projects

Gov. Tom Wolf in Pittsburgh Tuesday announced recipients of grants from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, through its Community Conservation Partnerships program, including two in Washington County.

A grant of $149,300 has been earmarked for the rehabilitation and further development of Cedar Grove Park in Cross Creek Township.

Work is to include construction of a multipurpose sports court and parking area and the installation of poured-in-place playground safety surfacing.

In Peters Township, $150,000 has been designated for Peterswood Park. Work is to include construction of a pedestrian walkway and installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing.

The projects will include access in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; landscaping; and other related site improvements.
