Canton man arrested on child pornography charge

Christopher Albert Koger
A Canton Township man was arrested Monday by state police on charges of possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communications facility after photographs were found on his cellphone earlier this year.
Christopher Albert Koger, 44, of 75 Mesta Drive, was arraigned on the charges before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $250,000 bond.
Police were contacted May 27 by Koger’s wife, who told them she saw images of naked children and children engaged in sex acts on his cellphone. She told also police it was brought to her attention by her daughter.
The phone had been deactivated, but Koger reportedly got a new cellphone with the same number.
Before she called police, Koger’s wife called him and confronted him about the child pornography on his cellphone. He reportedly denied it, but she told him there were many photos and videos of child pornography. Koger reportedly then told her he never physically touched any of the children.
Koger’s wife showed some of the photographs and videos to state police. They seized the cellphone and sent it to the state police computer crime unit for analysis. The images were reviewed by investigators, who determined the photographs appeared to be of girls about 12 years old and younger.
Koger is scheduled for a Jan. 9 preliminary hearing before Mark.
