County schedules collection of used electronics
Washington County scheduled seven dates next year for collection of used electronic devices at the fairgrounds, 2151 N. Main St., in Arden, Chartiers Township.
The dates are Jan. 9, Feb. 6, April 3, June 12, July 10, Sept. 4 and Nov. 6. All are Tuesdays, and the time for each of the collections is 2:30 to 5 p.m.
A hotline, 724-250-4839, for cancellations due to inclement weather will remain in effect for 2018. Information will be placed on the hotline after 9:30 a.m. on the day of the collection. Cancellations also will be posted on the Washington County Planning Commission website, www.co.washington.pa.us.planning
Items to be collected include computer monitors, towers, bases, mice, keyboards and speakers; notebook computers; printers; and televisions, which will be limited to one TV per carload, per event.
Four-foot and eight-foot fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lights will be accepted for a charge of $1 per bulb. Appliances containing Freon will be accepted along with a Freon removal fee of $15. Only cash will be accepted.
To date, Washington County’s electronics collection has served 7,372 residents who brought more than 640,000 pounds of recyclables.
