Fire destroys Houston apartment on Christmas Eve
Houston residents were displaced from their home Christmas Eve when an afternoon fire destroyed a second-story apartment on West Madison Street, behind CoGo’s gas station.
Houston fire Chief Robb Meddings said he believed three people were living in the apartment that was “75 percent lost” in the fire, which began about 3 p.m. Meddings said no injuries occurred during the fire and the residents living there arranged to stay with family.
Meddings said he does not know what caused the fire and that the state fire marshal would be investigating. Assisting Houston at the scene were Chartiers, North Strabane and Canonsburg fire departments.
